I am a lawyer in Victoria, British Columbia providing legal services to strata corporations and owners.
Ongoing occasional legal advice from a strata lawyer can be a cost-effective way for a strata corporation to reduce the risk of disputes arising, and when they do, to have processes in place to foster fair and efficient resolution.
Working with a strata lawyer can also take the guesswork out of correctly interpreting the law and free up valuable time for busy volunteer council members to deal with other matters.
If you are a strata council looking for help to properly apply the Strata Property Act and other relevant laws to the business of managing your condominium, townhouse complex, or strata subdivision, I would be pleased to work with you. I can provide assistance in areas such as:
I am also available to provide legal services to strata lot owners.
At this time, my services do not include appearing before the courts or other dispute resolution bodies; however, I can provide limited legal advice and coaching for the preparation of forms, evidence and submissions for court, mediation, arbitration, or the Civil Resolution Tribunal.
I was called to the bar in 2001 and have practiced as a civil litigator.
I also have several years’ experience as an administrative adjudicator and policy and legislative analyst, including conducting stakeholder consultations to clarify policy goals and turn them into instructions for government lawyers to draft laws and regulations. Preparing strata bylaws and rules that clearly and effectively implement the intentions of the strata owners is an aspect of legal practice I especially enjoy.
I live in a strata townhouse complex and have served on its council.
By appointment only.
